Baby Jack

I've successfully scooped People magazine and the National Enquirer for photos of Jay's new son, Jack.

They didn't cost too much, either.

Thanks to Jay for passing along not only some pictures, but his accounts of a very tense, scary at times, and thrilling ride as Jack came into the world.

Here's what Jay had to say...

John "Jack" William Capron IV was born into the world (Tuesday) morning at 3:12am. He weighed 7 pounds 15 ounces and was 20 and 3/4 inches long.

It was a pretty crazy turn of events.

Dev's due date was last Friday so we went in yesterday afternoon for a check-up. Her blood pressure was high and so they took her in for observation. They discovered there was a low amount of amniotic fluid so they decided to induce labor.

She was induced at around 6pm, got an epideral at 11pm, and then things went crazy. Her blood pressure was high, then low, and the baby's heart was high and low. I just dozed off for about 15 minutes at 2:45am or so when the alarms went off and they were losing the baby's heartbeat.

The doctors rushed in and yelled, "We have to get the baby out now!" They rushed Devon to the emergency room and the nurse started throwing surgical scrubs at me.

They had her open and the baby out in minutes, but we both held our breath because the baby was bluish and didn't cry right away. Then all of the sudden he cried, and of course, so did we.

It's the type of moment in life that is beyond words.
