*** Our tie-in for the birthday segment had more to do with something that happened on this date back in 1983.

In other words, nobody of note in the music world -- at least as far as our format -- has a birthday today.

Twenty-six years ago, Australian group Men At Work went to No.1 on the British and American singles and album charts simultaneously with 'Down Under' and 'Business As Usual'. The last artist to achieve this was Rod Stewart in 1971.

The song of choice for us, "Who Can It Be Now"




*** The drummer from Los Lobos has a birthday today as well. Louie Perez is his name, and rockin' out on "La Bamba" is his game.

The song, from the soundtrack of the movie La Bamba, was our choice for today's 80's Escape.

Interesting that Perez's birthday, and our selection of this Richie Valens song comes just a few days shy of the 50th anniversary of the day the music died.
